Arun Shourie, LLM

Arun is one of the founding Partners and the Team Lead of the Real Estate group of SB LLP. He has been practising law internationally for over 23 years. Before his admission to the Alberta Bar in 2005, he practised law in New Delhi, India.Academically, Arun has an undergraduate degree in Commerce and an LLB from India. He completed his Masters Degree (LLM) in Law from McGill University before permanently settling in Edmonton, where he articled and practised law at a large full-service firm in Edmonton before establishing SB LLP in 2010.Arun’s work in Alberta encompasses the day-to-day workings of his corporate and commercial clients with businesses both small to large, old to new,  including many local, provincial and national focused entrepreneurs.

Arun is one of the founding Partners of SB LLP and is currently Team Lead of the Commercial group. He has been practicing law internationally for over 28 years.

Arun’s primary areas of practice include commercial law, corporate law, and collaborative business law. He works with all sizes of real estate businesses and financial institutions in banking and private equity.

Arun is involved in Mergers and Acquisitions, strategizing, and organizing corporate structures, including flow of funds and securitization. He is also involved in legal due diligence, drafting contracts, and advising on private equity securitisation.

He is the President and Founder of the South Asian Bar Association (SABA) Edmonton Chapter and Co-Chair of the Business Section of SABA, North America. Arun was previously on the board of HomeEd, the Gandhi Foundation and the Canadian Condominium Institute (CCI). Arun has presented for the Law Society, LESA, the CCI and groups in the residential construction and financial industries.

Arun has taught on topics such as real estate, the construction industry, asset securitization, rules and regulations of the condominium practice in India, business laws, commercial transactions, and personal private securities.

Outside of the office, Arun enjoys playing badminton, learning about fitness, and spending time with his family.
