John McGee, K.C. (Retired Counsel)


 

John McGee's career is marked by a wealth of legal expertise and a profound dedication to community service. Graduating from the University of Ottawa in 1971, he was called to the bar in Ontario in 1972, later extending his practice to Alberta in 1977. His legal focus primarily centers around corporate and commercial law, with additional work in real estate and estate planning.

In addition to his legal contributions, John has been an educator, teaching at the Law Society of Alberta Bar Admission Course from 1994 to 2015. His dedication led to his appointment as Queen's Counsel in 2008, reflecting his significant impact on legal education.

Beyond the courtroom, John actively engages in community service. Noteworthy roles include chairing the Edmonton Marathon, serving on the Board of the Excel Society, and contributing to the 2001 World Track & Field Championships. His philanthropic efforts have been recognized with awards from both Economic Development Edmonton and the Alberta Government.
